Track Champions Crowned!
Trucks up to test Speedway USA next week!

Bolivar, MO. - Friday
night saw the final points race of the season at
Speedway USA as the Division leaders were crowned.
In the NASCAR Grand American Late Model, not only did he take the final feature of
the year, but he also was the track champion. Larry Phillips, no stranger to the winner's
circle, stood before the crowd and accepted the trophy and the honor of being the 1999
Track Champion.
Tim Swearengin, who has also seen the winner's circle this season, took the second place finish for the night and was third overall in the points. Third place went to Jerry Kelly, who placed fourth in points. Sam Payne placed fourth in the feature and sixth in the points standings. He was second in the final point standings, but finished fifth in the final feature of the season.
Mike Hoover took sixth on the evening and finished in the tenth points
spot. Fifth in the point standings, but finishing seventh on the night was Jim Hunt.
Tony Jackson Jr., completing his rookie season in the Grand American Late Models at
Bolivar finished not only eighth in the feature but in the points. Ron Polodna did
the same as he finished ninth in the feature and point standings.
With a 46 point lead over his brother, David Bates was the 1999 O'Reilly Auto Parts
Modified Track Champion. Bates also took the win in the feature over
Brian Schutt, who finished third in the point standings. Jim Hunt placed third in the
feature, while second place in the points, Jay Bates, finished fourth. He finished sixth
in the points but fifth on the evening, Jim Hayes drove his #14 modified to across the
checkered line for the final time this season.
Sixth in the feature, Bryan Kapica, finished fourth in points. John Bossen
fished just outside the top ten in points, eleventh, but made a good showing for the
evening as he finished seventh. Taking the fifth place in the point standings,
Lendall Alexander finished the race in the eighth spot.
The 1999 Street Stock Champion is none other than Scott Johnson. Johnson also took home
the trophy for the feature win of the night. Steve Maddux took second in the feature and
wound up fifth in the points in his rookie season behind the wheel of the #52 machine. Jim
Garretson finished third and Jared Brown finished fourth. Brown fished fourth in the
points. Andy Jenkins stood in the third spot in the overall standings but tonight he
took the fifth position.
Richard Thiessen, who has run a limited schedule this season finished
sixth. Second place in
the points, Toby Harden, finished seventh and Greg Shaffer finished eight. It was
Clyde Long and Steve Bias finishing the top ten of the night. Long finished sixth in
points.
It was his first win of the season, Cleo Jasper powered his #93 machine to the win in the Pure Street Division. Jasper was second in overall points. Jeff Richardson, showing strength all season, came home second on the night and fifth in the standings. The 1999 Pure Street Champion was Jerry Garretson, but he did not fair so well on the night as he finished tenth in the feature. Third place went to Don Scroggins and he also finished fourth in points. Ron Polodna finished fourth, Steve Shaw , fifth and Ron Stokes, sixth.
Shaw was seventh in points. Chuck Fers wound up third in points, but
seventh in the feature. Greg Cherry took the eight place spot in the race and tenth in
points. Leonard Underwood, starting the season a little later than the others, finished
ninth in the race and 11th in points.
The Neely family once again celebrated victory as Bradley Neely finished first in the
Bolivar KART Series Heavy Division and Bryan took first in the medium Division.
Bryan Neely placed a second in the heavy along with Shawn Brock-3rd, David
Taylor-4th and Travis Jones-5th. In the Medium division, it was Shawn Brock, second,
Travis Jones-3rd, Brad Neely -4th and Bill Goin -5th. In the Jr. II it was Tyler Wolf
taking the checkered over John Gibson-2nd, Jacob Magnis-3rd, Robbie Bryant-4th and Daniel
Shirley-5th.
On Sept. 5th a special 50 lap feature with the Pro Truck Series will invade the ozarks.
There will also be a special stunt show and a Pure Street feature with a $2000
purse.
