Ricky Icenhower returns to Speedway USA and wins NASCAR Grand American Late Model main!

May 14, 1999; Bolivar, MO. - For the second week in a row, a good group of cars and go-karts took to the track at Speedway USA - Bolivar Friday night.

The Grand American Late Models put on one of the best shows of the evening as Fair Grove's Ricky Icenhower took his first win of the season after a year's layoff from racing. Icenhower was put to the test many times as Springfield's Tim Swearingin tried to take the front spot away but was unable to make the pass. Swearingin finished ahead of five time NASCAR champion Larry Phillips, third, and Steve Holt, Springfield in fourth. Walnut Grove's Jerry Kelly took fifth followed to the line by Paul Wallen, Darryl Lockhart, Jim Hunt, Mike Hoover, and Sam Payne.

He has dominated since the first race, David Bates, Fair Grove, once again took home the trophy in the O'Rielly Auto Parts Modified Division. Bates was able to pass and stayed ahead of a hard charger, Brian Kapica, Buffalo. Third spot went to Joplin's Jim McMurray, Jim Hayes from Crocker, fourth, followed by Jay Bates, Dan Wohnoutka, Jim Cates, Jerry Garretson, Lendal Alexander and rounding out the top ten was Jim Thompson.

Street Stock Division watched Lebanon Mike Shaddy tear through the field and take the checkered flag in the Street Stock Division. Shaddy was followed by a close second of Rogersville's driver Andy Jenkins. Third place went to Willard's Randy Boyce, fourth,Scott Johnson, fifth spot was Richland's Steve Maddux. The next five positions were Toby Harden, Greg Shafer, Jared Brown, Clyde long and Brad Newsome.

Pure Street winner of the evening was Steve Shaw, Rogersville. Shaw finished ahead of Jerry Garretson, Bolivar, Cleo Jasper, Buffalo, Dan Polodna, Aldrich, David Rich, Lebanon, and Chuck Fers, Marshfield.
