Phillips, Bates continue to win at Speedway USA!

May 28, 1999; Bolivar, MO. - Five Time NASCAR Champion Larry Phillips posted yet another win this season at Speedway USA-Bolivar. Phillips has been challenged this season by drivers such as Ricky Icenhower and Tim Swearingin, but this evening would belong to Phillips, Tim Swearingin of Springfield took second place honors as Steve Holt-Springfield took the third spot. The rest of the field following the front leaders to the line were: 4.Ricky Icenhower-Fair Grove, 5-Jerry Kelly. Walnut Grove, 6 - Jim Hunt,Willard, 7. - Ron Polodna-Boliuar, 8-Tony Jackson Jr. - Lebanon, 9-Sam Payne. Buffalo and 10.-Mike Hoover-Springfield,

Once again, getting his photo taken in the O'Reilly Winners Circle was David Bates-Fair Grove Bates has been a dominating figure in the O'Reilly Auto Parts Modified Division this season, Bates was followed to the checkered flag by Buffalo's Bryan Kapica and Joplin's Jim McMurray. In the 4 through 10 spots were: 4. Brian Schutt - Richland, 5. Jay Bates-Fair Grove, 6. Brian Brown. Lebanon, 7. Jerry Garretson -Bolivar, 8. Lendal Alexander-Springfield, 9. In the Street Stock Division, Scott Johnson of Battlefield was able to keep ahead of the winner of the past two weeks, Mike Shaddy, to take home the feature trophy, Johnson and Shaddy had their hands full as Toby Harden and Steve Maddux tried to make their ways to the front. Harden-Ozark took third with Maddux-Richland, taking fourth, fifth spot went to Andy Jenkins-Rogersville, 6- Randy Boyee-Willard, 7 -Jared Brown-Pleasant Hope

For the second week in a row, Jerry Garretson took first in the Pure Street Division. Steve Shaw, who has been in the winner circle also this season, took second. Third spot honors went to Dan Polodna. - Aldrich, fourth was Cleo Jasper-Buffalo, and rounding out the top five was Robert Claunch

In the Bolivar KART Series, which puts on a show each and every week at Speedway USA. it was Brian Neely of Billings taking the trophy in the Heavy Division. Neely was chased down by Travis Jones of Osceola who second with Nixa's Jim Yates taking third.

In the medium division Travis Jones was not to be denied the trophy. In this feature race he finished ahead of second place Brian Neely while Tara Vaught of Crane took third.

In the Junior Division. Matt Morgan won his second trophy in as many weeks finishing ahead of Mansfield's Jacob Maghin, third sport went to John Gibson of Strafford.
