He won a cool grand! Tom Daubner (#34) collected $1,000 for winning the 5th Annual Street Stock Slam Saturday Night at Thunderhill. The special event on the third-mile clay oval presents the Street Stocks as the main division for this one night each season at Thunderhill! | |
The Slam lined up 20 cars from throughout the area for the 25 lap main event. Dan Anschutz burst from the outside of the front row into the lead and paced the first 4 laps before Gregg Siebold hooked up on the outside and took over the top spot. Tom Daubner pulled to the inside of Anschutz on the next lap and ran door to door right behind the leader until lap 10.
Daubner continued on the inside line and pulled alongside of the leader. They ran side buy side until Daubner inched ahead on lap 13 and started to pull away from the pack. Current track point leacler, Bernie Reinhart, had moved up to take over fourth and was now running right behind Siebold for the runner up spot. The top three opened a lead on the pack and started to run into lapped traffic on lap 16.
James Tebon was now running in fifth, closing on Anschutz and 2 time defending Slam winner, Troy Muench was tight behind in sixth.
On lap 19, Tebon's race ended when the right rear wheel broke off his machine entering turn one, which bunched the field on Daubner. On the restart, both Reinhardt and Siebold made a move on the leader, only to have the caution reappear for a two car spin. The green would stay out for the final 5 laps on the restart, and this time Daubner got the quick start and pulled away to collect a cool $1000, the biggest payday of his career. Reinhardt won the battle for the runner up spot with Siebold edging out Anschutz for the third spot. Muench took fifth and Gary Reinhardt rounded out the top six.
| Back in the winner's circle! Todd Dart (#3) won his second Modified feature of the year at Thunderhill. The defending champion was serious injured in a street car accident earlier this year. Tonight marked his first feature win at Thunderhill since returning from that incident. | ![]() |
Four other divisions were also on the program with the modifieds putting 18 cars on he grid for the feature. Mike Klenz and Brad Anderegg ran wheel to wheel for the first part of the race with Klenz holding the slight edge most of the time with Anderegg pulling into the lead on lap 7. Anderegg started to open a lead while the pack stayed together behind. Todd Dart started at the rear of the field and wove his way to the front. On lap 9, he joined Klenz end Rick LeMieux in a three way battle for the runner up spot which saw three wide racing several times before Dart split the pair and took over second on lap 13.
Dart quickly closed on Anderegg and on lap 16, pulled Outside of the leader in turn two. One lap later, in the same spot, Dart took over the lead and drove away for his second feature win of the season. Anderegg took the runner up finish with Kienz third, Gary Jacobs fourth, Tom Stark in fifth and Randy LeMieux in sixth.

A fast learner! Brandon Czarapata (#33) took advantage of the non-point night to drive and IMCA Stock Car for the first time and won the feature event. Czarapata is looking to move into the IMCA Stock Car division after winning a Street Stock title this year at Seymour Tri-Oval. |
Brandon Czarapata climbed into an IMCA Stock Car for the first time and took the lead from the start of the feature. Dave Bouche took up the second spot but caused the only caution of the race with a spin on lap 4.
Jason Geyer, Bucky Coopman, Benji LaCrosse, Russ Tuttle and Todd Smith were lined up for the restart. The pack pressured Czarapata for the top spot for the next several laps, but could not shake the street stock veteran and by the mid point of the race, he was starting to open a lead. Once alone in front, Czarapata cruised to his first career division feature win. Geyer took the runner up finish with LaCrosse running to a strong third place finish with John Heinz, Rod Snellenberger and Eric Vanlten rounding out the top six.

Two in a row for LeMieux! Bill LeMieux (#3) won his second straight feature in Bomber action tonight. LeMieux led the final half of the feature to score the win. |
A very tight regular season point battle in the Bombers kept several in the division home getting ready for next weeks final point race, but the field on hand put on the same close feature event. Josh Jeanquardt took the lead at the start with the pack bunching up three wide behind over the opening laps. On lap 3, a three car mix up out of turn four brought out the first of three cautions in the race.
Jeanquart continued to lead while the field started to sort out behind. Bill LeMieux was weaving through the tight pack and moved into the runner up spot on lap 5. He closed on he leader, and on lap 7, slipped inside out of turn 2 and took the lead. A pair of 2 car spins on laps 8 and 11 kept the field bunched up but LeMieux pulled away each time to win his second straight feature. Wally Lhost had chased the leader from the mid point of the race and finished second just ahead of Don Aregoni, Jr., Billy Hays, Tom Frea and Tony Herbst.
| Truckin' at The Hill! Kevin Strebel (#66) won the special Sport Truck feature on Saturday night at Thunderhill. | ![]() |
The Sport Trucks were also on the program with Kevin Strebel taking the lead at the start with Jeff Scray taking over the lead on lap 2. Scray led the way until Strebel charged back on the outside on lap 10. Strebel pulled off the pass and 2 laps later collected the feature win. Dave Davister took the runner up spot with Scray ending up in third.
This coming weak will be the final point night of the season with all four championships up for grabs. Racing starts at 6 p.m.
The final event at the Hill will take place on Fnday and Saturday, October 15 and 16, when the track will host the first annual, Hill 100 Showdown. The big program will feature all four regular divisions, and being the final race in northeaster Wisconsin, should bring in quite a few new faces as well. All qualifying events will be run on Friday night starting at 7 PM. Consy's and 25 lap features will be run on Saturday night for each division with racing starting at 5 PM.
