Thunderhill Speedway to open 2000 season on May 6th!

January 12, 2000; Sturgeon Bay, WI. - The Thunder Hill Speedway has announced that their 8th season opener will take place on Saturday night, May 6, 2000. This is the earliest opener ever since the track re-opened in 1993.

Since last season, the track was re-worked with a deep layer of new clay added to the 1/3 mile oval. Safety fencing around the track has been completed or will be by the opener. These projects are all part of a general fair park upgrade over the past couple of years which has seen a new pit area and pit lighting, and last season, a new covered grandstand and sound system. The next couple of years Will see final stages which will re-do the privacy fencing around the rest of the facility along the back stretch and the installation of a new track lighting system.

The weekly Saturday night programs will again feature the IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Stock Cars, Street Stocks and Bombers. The season will run through September 16th. The Street Stock Slam will return for the 7th annual affair on September 9th. The date for the 2000 banquet is also posted for Saturday night, November 4th.

Final schedule information is still being attended to and will be announced shortly. A pre-season meeting will also be held in March.
