TNT Speedway - How it began!
In November of 1993, Tim and Patti Rutzen purchased the 40+ acre parcel of land that today houses TNT Speedway. The Rutzens say that there was definite talk of building a racetrack at that time, but talk was all it was at that point. If nothing else, they thought it would make good hunting property. The following spring it was time to clear the many tons of "treasures" that seem to gather on vacant property over a fifty year period. With an old farm tractor and a old dump track, slowly the property began to empty out and the "possible" racetrack was designed.
Some wonderful memories, good laughs and great times, surround those early building months. Under some very primitive conditions, a small group of people banded together and build TNT Speedway. Starting as early in the morning as the weather would allow, work continued each day 'til dusk and usually ended with a meal, campfire, some building suggestions, and a lot of race talk, before everyone headed home after a hard days work.
Spring of 1995 found everyone scrambling as the race season was coming soon. An enormous amount of work followed and on May 29, 1995, TNT Speedway held their Inaugural race.
