September 3, 1999, Chilton, WI - Tim Frerichs of Two Rivers took home feature win number two on the season, this past Friday in the Mini-Sprint division. Besting Chilton's Dave Lisowe and a horrific wreck mid-way into the race, Frerichs now sits in the 4th spot in the points race.

For the second time this season Tim Frerichs (#7) earned a WIMSA Mini-Sprint main event at the Calumet County Fairgrounds. Frerichs survived numerous caution periods to score the win. |
Beaver Dam racer Joe Pantely and Frerichs made up row one of the twenty-lap feature, Lisowe and Danny Mentzel sat close behind. When the green dropped, the rack turned into a dust bowl as the cars flew around the track, Frerichs emerging from the clouds as he opened up his lead over Lisowe. Lap seven brought a bit of clearing to the hazy track as Don Keil flipped his ride in front of the grandstand. Uninjured, his ride was righted and he drove off into the pits.
| Stacked up! Denny Kreuger (#39) lost control of his ride and collected Kevin Eggert (#98) during feature race action. Also involved in the incident were Larry Juckem, Danny Mentzel and Jeff Harder. Eggert was transported from the track by ambulance but was released from a nearby hospital after a quick examination. None of the other drivers needed attention. | ![]() |
Just as things got back under way, Danny Krueger swung wide on the backstretch and created a huge mess. Appleton's Kevin Eggert was full on the throttle when Krueger lost control and drove into him full tilt. Even worse was Mentzel not seeing the mess and doing a complete barrel role in mid air! Also caught up in the mess, were Larry Juckem and Glenbeulah's Jeff Harder. Luckily all were uninjured. Eggert was transferred off the racetrack via ambulance, but was later released after a quick examination.
Yet again, Frerichs and Lisowe drove away from the pack on the restart,
but most notably, point leader Scott Sippel of Elkhart Lake and Muskego's Scott Uttech
used the caution to work their way up through the huge field of cars settling to the fifth
and sixth position. Also, defending track champion from Fredonia, Mike Kertscher and
Cleveland's Mike Emme paired to move into the
third and fourth position on the restart.
The next thirteen laps were caution free, as well as action free as the
order remained nearly the same till the end of the race. Frerichs claimed the win,
followed by Lisowe, Kertscher, Emme and Sippel.
Sippel has a sixteen-point advantage over Uttech and looks to be this years track champion
unless like the GNS battle, he should scratch and Uttech sweep.
