Sippel 2 for 2 in WIMSA Mini-Sprints!
By Bill Brenner

May 28, 1999, Chilton, WI -  Once again, the top gun Mini-Sprint driver from Elkhart Lake, Scott Sipple, put on a spectacular show for the crowd at Chilton.   Scott started from way back in the field, motoring his way through nearly 10 cars to take another well-deserved trip to victory lane.

52899c.jpg (14172 bytes) Scott Sippel (#5) used a combination of hard driving and a little luck to win this evening's WIMSA Mini-Sprint feature at Chilton.   Sippel would make it as far as second place behind Dean Luckey though hard driving.   When Luckey broke a chain in the final turn Sippel powered past for the win.

Hometown racer Dave Lisowe was the pole sitter for the feature race. Eric Wetenkamp started second, and John Sauermilch, a 360 Sprint car driver, subbing for Glenbeaulah's Jeff Harder, started third.    Kevin Eggert out of Appleton brought out the first caution for the Mini-Sprint feature. Illinois driver, Dean Luckey used the restart to his advantage and begun to work his way away from the rest of the field.

Meanwhile, Scott Sipple was on the move. Pressuring Newton native Russ Wetenkamp, Sipple's racing expertise allowed him to gain another position, now setting his cross hairs on Luckey, the race leader. With the checkers not to far away, Sipple still had a lot of ground to make up if he wanted to catch Luckey, a full straight away ahead!

To Sipple's benefit, Luckey's machine broke a chain in turn three on the final lap. That was all Scott needed as he motored through turn four and took the checkered flag. After winning both the season opener, and this evening, Scott Sipple stands on top of points with an eleven-point cushion over second runner in points, Tim Frerichs. The rest of the top five were as follows: Russ Wetenkamp, Burlington's Dan Krueger, '98 track champion Scott Uttech out of Muskego, and Dean Luckey.
