By Mike Babicz

September 11, 1999, Chilton, WI - Muskego's Scott Uttech chalked up his eighth Wisconsin Mini-Sprint Association (WIMSA) 15-lap mini-sprint main of the season and second of the weekend.

"The car ran super. This was a fun track to run," said Uttech, closing in on his second straight WIMSA crown. "The crew set the car up super and it was a lot of fun to run."

Bob Reichert took the initial lead until a snapped drive chain sent him coasting off the track on the backstretch coming out of turn two on lap three. While the field scrambled to avoid Reichert's disabled mount, "B" main winner Mike Kertscher ended up flipping in turn four, unhurt with the car
coming to rest on all four wheels minus its top wing necessitating a red flag.

Jeff Harder inherited the lead on the restart. Uttech shot to the outside with the pair going wing to wing a couple laps around the one-third mile oval. Uttech took the lead on lap five, beginning to pull away. A final yellow flew three laps from the finish, but Uttech was up to the challenge on the restart going on to the victory, his second of the weekend after winning at Chilton in the season ending night Sept. 3.      Harder ended up second. Michael Emme came up from 13th to finish third. Fast qualifier Scott Sippel was penalized two positions for jumping a restart, ending up placing fourth. Jeff Schmidt was fifth. John Peters, Uttech and Emme won heat races. Sippel was fast qualifier among the 22 cars on hand.

He's fast!  Scott Sippel (#5) scored quick time in the WIMSA Mini-Sprints turning in a lap of 15.857 seconds around the third mile clay oval.  Sippel would later have a good showing in the main event with a solid fourth place finish. 91199b.jpg (13060 bytes)
