Twin features highlight WIMSA card at Chilton!
By Bill Brenner

July 9, 1999, Chilton, WI -  The Mini-Sprint division had a great turnout at the Calumet County Speedway. In fact, CCRA held twin twelve-lap features for them. Polesitter for the first mini-sprint feature was Danny Mentzel, a rookie from Oshkosh, Appleton's Kevin Eggert in second, Elkhart Lake's Craig Gravatt starting third and Jeff Harder from Glenbeaulah was seated in fourth.

Eggert moved to the top spot after the green flag, Mentzel was close to follow in second. Cleveland native Mike Emme made his presence know as he moved to the third position, together he and Eggert proceeded to put slow runners a lap down. A few circuits later, Emme managed to find a fast line around second spot runner Mentzel and continued to charge towards race leader Eggert. At the checkers, it was Kevin Eggert taking the win, Emme a close second and Mentzel third.

The second twelve-lap mini-sprint feature put Beaver Dam's Joe Pantely on the pole, Bob Reichert from Skokie Illinois on the outside of row one and Tim Frerichs from Two Rivers starting third. Reichert took the jump at the green flag, former track champion Mike Kertscher following close
behind.

Unfortunately, point leader and last weeks feature winner, Scott Sippel of Elkhart Lake, fell victim to problems and retired to the pits. Also, Kertscher took a spin ending up in the infield. Taking that with a grain of salt, Kertscher once again gained the second spot  to challenge Bob Reichert for the lead. Running bumper to bumper, Reichert held off Kertscher for the win, Tim Frerichs taking third, and Scott Uttech fourth.
